Let's enjoy the excellent poems of Michael Kamoto form Malawi.
Beyond a Night
(For China and for the World)
"There is always a time we all stand a little more better with our hands held by many."
You would think it is a long night
Of no moon nor stars in a sight;
Or a river leaping and gashing on banks,
Its flooding water on weary feet aghast.
But we have sat before on the same spot
When we watched while many rivers rolled;
Our eyes caught in waters the reflection
The silhouettes as a night swayed to dawn.
We have strongly stood together in wait,
In impetuous winds that too soon fade,
While all the waves that churned and leapt
Collapsed to ripples fondly sweet on feet.
So then, if this be a night dark at glance
We will sail with Yangtze River to the last;
Or if it be waters flooding with a growl
We will fortify our stance on the Great Wall.
