General Information

On February 21, 2023, the General Office of the Ministry of Education formally approved the establishment of the Frontiers Science Center for Deep-time Digital Earth (DDE) at the China University of Geosciences (Beijing). The primary mission of the Center is to conduct research on the co-evolution of Earth's spheres and the analysis of major geological events and phenomena, while developing advanced technologies for big data analysis and intelligent prediction within the deep-time Earth system. The Center actively participates in and spearheads significant domestic and international big science programs, aims to yield a series of world-leading original achievements, and is dedicated to constructing a "Deep-time Earth Big Data Analyzer and Simulator." It plays a pivotal role in providing scientific and technological support and leadership to address major global scientific challenges—such as global change and regional sustainable development—while meeting critical national demands concerning resources and the environment. Its research framework encompasses five major directions: Deep-time paleogeographic evolution and deep Earth processes; Deep-time life and environmental evolution; Deep-time paleoclimate evolution; Deep-time Earth material evolution and resource effects; and Deep-time big data and the simulation and prediction of extreme geological events. Currently, the Center boasts a high-level talent pool, including 5 Academicians, 22 national-level talents, and 16 national-level young talents.
